Abstract
Our proposed device will be designed to sense the temperature, humidity and light intensity within a greenhouse and will indicate and control these parameters. In order to gather the data to control these variables, temperature, humidity and light sensors will be placed within the structure. Analog and discrete signals will be sent to the control software (LabVIEW) where indication of temperature, humidity and light intensity will be displayed. Outputs from the control software will activate devices designated to maintain desired levels of atmospheric temperature, relative humidity and lighting. Temperature will be controlled by a fan and a heater. Humidity will be controlled by a watering system that includes an electrically controlled valve. A flow indication will also be observed on the graphic interface to alert the user when plants are in the process of being watered. Lighting will be maintained by a 20 watt bulb and a 100 watt bulb that will illuminate the greenhouse in varying degrees depending upon data received from photocells.
